BRITISH ROCK CLIMBING

Napes Needle ROCK CLIMBING COURSES

Our courses are highly regarded for their exceptional safety and quality standards. Clients leave with a new confidence, based on the solid practical experience they have gained. The courses can last from as little as half a day taster session, to a full five days. We offer a wide range of courses to suit many different ambitions from a novice who requires instruction to a climbing instructor progressing to a national award. Our low Client:Guide ratio ensures that we can tailor courses to your exact requirements.

Our wide range of courses include:

INTRODUCTION TO ROCK CLIMBING

We will teach you all the basic skills to allow you to complete climbs in safety. Through a carefully structured programme, your instructor will also endeavour to improve your own climbing performance.

CLASSIC CLIMBS

For mountain enthusiasts wishing to experience some of the Lake District's most famous climbs. Classics such as Bowfell Buttress or Napes Needle and The Needle Ridge, or the more demanding routes like Kipling Groove on Gimmer Crag or Central Buttress on Scawfell. What ever the grade, our instructors will help you up the route you've always been meaning to climb.

MOUNTAIN SCRAMBLING

A course aimed at adventurous walkers who want to leave the foot paths behind them and venture up some of the classic Lake District scrambles, with the security of a Guide. Many famous scrambles may be undertaken: Pinnacle Ridge, Jack's Rake, Sharp Edge, Sphinx Ridge, or a scramble of your own choice. We'll take care of the safety, leaving you free to enjoy the scrambling.

LEARNING TO LEAD

Leading your first climb can be a nerve wracking experience! Our carefully structured programme will introduce you to the techniques of leading, under the watchful eye of your instructor. We will try to ensure that you leave the course with the skills and confidence to lead climbs of your own.

MLTB SINGLE PITCH AWARD

Administered by the Mountain Leader Training Board, this award is aimed at those who supervise groups on single pitch rock climbs. It is now considered an essential qualification for anyone working in outdoor centres or on climbing walls. more

SELF RESCUE FOR INSTRUCTORS AND CLIMBERS

This is a very practical two day course covering all you need to know about evacuating yourself and your partner from the crag. We practice all that you may have read in the books and introduce a few techniques of our own. A must for all climbers and instructors who want to be effective in self-rescue..
